Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 1027 seeks to amend Title 15 of the O.C.G.A., relating to courts. The bill deems that by either court rule or standing order, any superior court and any state court may provide for the filing of pleadings and any other documents and for the acceptance of payments and remittances by electronic means. Further, it delineates that such pleading or document is to be deemed filed upon its receipt by the electronic filing service provider. Lastly, it grants the magistrate court power to establish procedure for electronic transference of funds.
