HB 10 revises O.C.G.A. § 40-6-241 by
defining ‘hands-free telephone call’ and ‘wireless communication device.’ HB 10
prohibits the use of a wireless communication device unless it is a hands-free
telephone, while operating a motor vehicle on public road of the state. Exceptions
are made for when an individual is reporting a traffic accident, a public
utility employee is acting within their scope of employment for resolving a
public utility emergency or, law enforcement, firefighter or EMS are acting
within their official duties.
