Staff Analysis of the Legislation
HB 154 amends Code Section 15-10-2 of the O.C.G.A. related to the jurisdiction of magistrate courts, so as to increase the fine amount for  contempt of court. HB 154 provides for an increase in the fine for contempt of court from no amount in excess of $200 to an amount in  excess of $500. In addition, all conflicting laws and parts of laws would be subsequently repealed with this Act.
