Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 206 seeks to extend O.C.G.A. ยง 40-6-16  provisions indicating the  proper procedure when a vehicle approaches a stationary emergency  vehicle so as to provide the same procedure when approaching a vehicle  with active sanitation workers. The procedure requires to change lanes  if possible or to slow down if switching lanes is not possible. When  switching lanes is not feasible, the driver shall reduce their speed to  at least 10 mph less than the posted speed limit or 25 mph less than the  posted speed limit; whichever is greater. The fine for violation shall  not exceed $250.
