Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 268 amends O.C.G.A. § 19-7-5, relating to mandated reporting of child  abuse. When mandated persons, identified in paragraph (c)(1) of  O.C.G.A. § 19-7-5, receives reliable information that child abuse has  occurred involving a person who attends to a child pursuant to the  person's duties, the person who received the information shall notify  the individual in charge of their place of employment, and the person  notified shall report or make a report in accordance to Code section §  19-7-5. The bill restricts any modification to the information provided  by the reporter although consultation may be sought prior to the making  of a report.
