Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 90 amends Chapter 1 of Title 35 of the O.C.G.A. to require all state, county, and local law enforcement officers who primarily conduct traffic stops or respond to emergency dispatch calls to attach an audio and video recording device to their persons effective the start of next year. The recording, used to capture all activities from the officer’s point of view or line of sight, could be made publicly available provided its relevance towards depicting an encounter that took place for a law enforcement purpose.
