HB 629 amends Article 2 of Chapter 19 of Title 45 of the OCGA. It states that all persons without regard to race, color, religion, or national origin shall be entitled to equal enjoyment of goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any public place. An aggrieved person must file a complaint within one year of the alleged discriminatory public accommodations practice. The administrator, the Commission on Equal Opportunity, then has 10 days to serve the respondent a notice identifying alleged discriminations. The administrator has 90 days to investigate, unless there is an election and it can be extended to 120.  Punishments can range from $10,000 to $50,000 in fines.
