993 proposes an amendment to Article VI of the Constitution by revising
Sections I, II, III, and VII to create a new class of business courts. In
addition, every judicial circuit shall have the ability to create a business
court division of the superior court. Superior courts have the authority to
move a case to the state-wide business court if the parties involved agree. The
business courts will have statewide jurisdiction and venue will be determined by
traditional already provided by code. All state-wide business court judges
shall serve terms of five years with no term limits and shall be appointed by
the Governor, subject to approval by majority vote of the Senate and House
Judiciary Committees. |
