HB 825 amends §2-16-45 of the O.C.G.A. It allows the chief medical examiner to inter unidentified human remains after the peace officer in charge has exhausted all efforts to identify the remains. It also allows the chief medical examiner to disinter remains when he/she determines that further information can be obtained or further testing can be performed that may result in the identification of the remains.
