Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 213 amends Title 2 and Title 13 of the O.C.G.A to allow for the cultivation of hemp and hemp product’s in Georgia. Hemp growers to obtain a license annually and outlines the process and requirements for obtaining such licenses. The bill further gives the Department of Agriculture the right to test hemp crops for THC concentration and destroy crops which test over a certain level. HB 213 also authorizes universities and colleges of the University System of Georgia to perform research on the cultivation and uses of hemp grown in the state.
