Staff Analysis of the Legislation
HB 270 moves to amend Code Section 21-2-417 of the O.C.G.A to provide that temporary licenses, permits, special identification cards or driver’s licenses issued to noncitizens shall not be proper identification documents for voting in elections. The bill also requires the Department of Driver Services to participate in the Records and Information from DMV’s for E-Verify (RIDE) program of the U.S Department of Homeland Security.
