Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 158 amends Title(s) 9, 15, 16, 17, and 41 of the O.C.G.A regarding human trafficking, sentencing, and victim treatment. Under this legislation survivors of human trafficking would be given trauma informed rehabilitation across the state of Georgia. The crime of prostitution would also be revised to exclude those under 18 years of age. Finally, the bill would add a clause for recognizing locations for human trafficking such as hotels and nuisance areas, and it would provide exemptions for self-reporting by these establishments.
