Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 226 amends Code Section 40-8-76.1 to provide an exception for a statement about passenger vehicle occupants being restrained by an approved seat safety belt for children under eight years of age using safety restraints in Code Section 40-8-76. In cases in which a minor passenger eight years of age or older fails to comply with all code requirements, the driver is guilty of failure to secure a seat safety belt on a minor.
