Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB amends Article 4 of Chapter 2 of Title 47 of the OCGA to allow any former member of the Georgia Judicial Retirement System who has at least six years of creditable service in this system without withdrawal of his/her accumulated contributions be given a one-time irrevocable election to remain a member or resume active membership in this retirement system. Any eligible person can make this election within 60 days after becoming the head of a state department, commission, or agency, or full-time salaried position on a state board or commission with appointment by the Governor.
