Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 955 amends Chapter 5 of Title 16 of the OCGA to provide that an individual who is required to report abuse of an elder person or disabled adult and fails to do so is guilty of a misdemeanor. The bill also repeals enhanced penalties for battery against a person who is 65 years of age or older or by an employee in a long-term care facility.
