Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 393 amends OCGA 20-3-72 to empower campus police and security personnel of the University System of Georgia to make arrests for felony offenses committed on public or private property within the jurisdiction of the Board of Regents within 880 yards (one half mile) of such property. The bill also amends Chapter 3 of Title 35 to create a Legal Division within the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and authorize GBI personnel to serve as special assistant attorneys general, special assistant district attorneys, special assistant solicitors-general, or special assistant United States Attorneys when requested by other agencies.
