HB 1006 provides an Act regarding the selection and duties of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit’s chief judge. The judge shall be selected for a two-year term by majority election of the circuit’s judges and may only serve for two consecutive terms. The duties of this judge include but are not limited to preparing the court’s budget, establishing employment criteria for court employees, and implementing a personnel system among courts to ensure fair treatment. This act repeals a previous act (approved of on May 7, 2013) regarding the selection of the chief judge.
