Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 136 amends Chapter 2 of Title 21 of the OCGA to provide that the chief judge of the superior court for each county’s assigned circuit shall appoint the acting election superintendent during periods of vacancy or incapacitation within the office of judge of the probate court. The compensation for acting election superintendents is decided by the sole county commissioner or the board of county commissioners, and paid for from the general county funds.
