HB 555 as filed creates new Code Section OCGA § 17-7-4 to allow a court the authority to approve an accused’s waiver of the right to jury trial and proceed to bench trial, notwithstanding an objection by the prosecuting attorney. This bill includes a sunset of June 30, 2023.
