HB2187- appropriation; K-12 rollover (Udall)

This bill reduces the K-12 rollover from $930.7M to $630.7M for FY20.

  • Exempts charter schools and school districts with fewer than 600 students.

Requires the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to make the deferral by reducing the appointment of basic state aid each month.

Appropriates $630.7M from the General Fund to ADE and the Superintendent of Public Instruction (SPI) in FY21 to cover the difference.

Requires districts to include this money in the revenue estimate to compute its tax rate for FY20.
