Staff Analysis of the Legislation

Under current law, school districts and charter schools must provide a parent or guardian a copy of their child's scores on the statewide assessment and the associated scores for the school, district, county, and state. This bill prescribes that if the statewide assessment results are available before the start of each school year, school districts and charter schools must provide notification no later than the first half of the second quarter of the school year to parents of 6th-8th graders who failed to demonstrate proficiency in grade-level mathematics.
