SCR1001- A Concurrent Resolution on education; TPT; use tax (Allen)

This bill proposes an amendment to the Constitution of Arizona to appear on the 2020 general election ballot.

The amendment creates a separate 1% Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) beginning July 1, 2021 to raise revenue for education.

The revenue from the proposed tax would be distributed as follows:

=       73% for primary and secondary classroom education purposes

=       22% for maintaining an in-state tuition rate consistent with the State Constitutional requirement for tuition to be as nearly free as possible

=       5% for community college trade and workforce development programs.
