HB2670- study committee on special education; membership; duties

This bill establishes a study committee on special education weights and funding for gifted pupils, to consist of 5 members from the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House, 3 of the majority party, 2 from the minority. One shall be designated as the chairperson.

Requires the President of the Senate to appoint five Senate members, with one being the vice chairperson. 

Allows the committee to meet however often the members deem necessary.

Requires the committee to examine and make recommendations regarding special education weights and funding for gifted students.

Requires the House to provide staff assistance to the committee, to be directed by the Speaker.

Requires the committee to submit a report of its finding and recommendations to the Speaker of the House and Secretary of State before January 1, 2020.

Includes an automatic repeal after January 15, 2020.
