SUMMARY:  LC 28 6918-ECS

This bill moves the state and local primary date to match that for federal elections as set by the federal court to ensure overseas voters have adequate time to vote in the primary and any necessary runoff. 

 

Provisions:

Nonpartisan candidates qualify the 11th week before the election -- In 2014, that will be March 3-7.

Partisan candidates qualify the 35th week before the general election, which again will be March 3-7.

The primary will be the 24th week prior to the November general election, which in 2014 will be May 20th.

Sets advance voting dates and runoff date

Requires a campaign disclosure report March 31st in an election year 

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:

Upon approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without his approval.
