Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:   LC 28 7282  In the event the incumbent in a nonpartisan election is disqualified or withdraws after the qualifying period but prior to the election leaving no or only one candidate on the ballot, then no election shall be held for that office and the qualifying period shall be reopened for a period of 3 to 5 days and a special election shall be held. 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and the Governor.
