Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:
Allows the chair of a legislative committee of subcommittee to require an oath from those testifying before the committee, attesting to the accuracy of the information presented. Legislators are exempt.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Oath or affirmation may required at the discretion of the committee or subcommittee chair
- Oath or affirmation attests to the accuracy of the testimony or data presented
- Persons making false statements while under oath may be subject to penalty
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
- Does not apply to members of the General Assembly
EFFECTIVE DATE:
Upon signature of the Governor or becoming law without such signature.
