Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  Allows schools chartered by the Charter Commission to participate in facilities funds provided by the General Assembly.

REQUIREMENTS:  If the charter commission school terminates operations, any unencumbered funds and all equipment and property purchased with public education funds will revert to the ownership of the Charter Schools Commission.

POINTS TO CONSIDER: Local boards may, if desired, contract with charter schools for the use of facilities owned by the board of education.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  July 1, 2010
