SUMMARY:  LC 33 3502S

Requires clearance certificates for educators.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Professional Standards Commission will issue a clearance certificate verifying that an educator required to hold a professional certificate has completed fingerprint and criminal background check requirements and that the individual does not have a currently revoked or suspended certificate.
  • Requires any educator holding a valid clearance certificate to be subject to the code of ethics for educators.
  • All non educator personnel employed by a school system shall be fingerprinted and have a criminal record check.
  • Implementation date:  January 1, 2011.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the Governor or upon becoming law without such approval.
