Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  Changes certain provisions related to awards and benefits of workers' compensation:

  • limits length of medical benefits claims not designated as catastrophic injuries to 400 weeks from the date of injury
  • requires that mileage reimbursement incurred by the employee be paid within 15 days of receipt of the charges and reports required
  • requires the employee to make a good faith effort to return to work upon release by the physician
  • raises the maximum benefit payable resulting from injury that is temporarily total to $525/week; for temporarily partial disability to $350/week.

EFFECTIVE DATE: For injuries occuring on or after July 1, 2013, if the legislation is approved by the Governor.
