Permissive legislation authorizing a public or private school to stock a supply of auto-injectable epinephrine after acquiring a prescription.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • authorized medical personnel may prescribe such medication and a pharmacist may dispense such medication to a public or private school
    • authorized medical personnel may include a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, and physician assistant
  • the school may designate an employee training in the possession and administration of the medication who will be responsible for the storage, maintenance, and distribution of the medication
  • such trained employee may provide the medication to a student or another employee if medically necessary; may administer the medication to a student or employee if medically necessary
  • such designated employee shall be immune from civil liability if the medication is administered in good faith and not an act of willful or wanton misconduct

Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
