Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  LC 33 6343   Expands eligibility for the Zell Miller HOPE Scholarships for home study students.

REQUIREMENTS:  To be eligible students must:

  • complete a home study program meeting state requirements
  • receive a SAT score of at least 1,350 or ACT score of at least 29
  • eligibility requirements are not changed by this legislation if enrolled at a postsecondary institution (receive a SAT score of at least 1,200 or ACT score of at least 26 and a grade point average of at least 3.3) 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
