SUMMARY: LC 256554T   "Religious Freedom Restoration Act". Provides for the preservation of religious freedom and would allow a person aggrieved by violation of the act to seek declaratory judgment or injunctive relief against government entities, including school districts.

The defense of sovereign immunity is waived as related to a person seeking a declaratory judgment, injunctive relief, or reasonable attorney's fees  against a government entity but is not waived as to claims for monetary damages. 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
