Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY: LC 33 6540 Would require mandatory attendance in public, private or home school setting be between the ages of 6 and 17, previously it was between the ages of 6 and 16. This mandatory attendance would not be required if the child has successfully completed all requirements for a high school diploma. This bill would also revise provisions relating to the establishment of adult literacy programs.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
