Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY: LC 33 6449 Would require the State Board of Education, with input from appropriate experts to develop a rape prevention and personal safety education program and a program for preventing teen dating violence. This program would be developed with grades eight through twelve in mind, however local boards may implement such programs at any time and for any grade level the local board finds appropriate. The State Board of Education shall incorporate into such programs the "Love is Not Abuse Curriculum".

REQUIREMENTS: The State Board of Education shall make information regarding these programs available to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. 

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
