SUMMARY:  LC 29 6185  LC 29 6337S AM 29 2553 Provides for the waiver of sovereign immunity under certain circumstances.

The bill amends 50-21-50 by adding that "the defense of sovereign immunity is waived as to any claim, counterclaim, cross-claim or third-party claim  brought in the courts of this state by an aggrieved person seeking declaratory judgment or injunctive relief against the state or political subdivision."

EFFECTIVE DATE:

Upon signature of Governor or upon becoming law without his signature.
