SUMMARY: LC 33 5725 LC 33 6144S HB 65/AP
Requires boards of education and certain charter schools not part of a local education agency to hold at least two meetings to allow public input on the proposed annual operating budget. Charter schools with a statewide or multiple county attendance zone shall hold one such meeting in the county where its primary business office is located and one meeting in metro Atlanta. 
 
A summary of the proposed operating budget and the adopted budget shall be posted on the governing body's website. 
 
Upon request, an electronic copy of the detailed adopted annual operating budget shall be made available within three business days.
 
Does not apply to the operating budget of a nonprofit corporation operating a charter school. 
 
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
Under current law boards must hold three public hearings if a tax increase is anticipated. Budgets must be posted on a website maintained by the state.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
