Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  LC 36 2654  Provides that state employees (and employees of certain businesses) be allowed to use up to five days of earned sick leave for the care of immediate family members.

REQUIREMENTS:  Immediate family is defined as child, spouse, grandchild, grandparent, parent, or any dependent shown on the employee's most recent tax return.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and the Governor.
