Professional learning requirements for certification renewal have been suspended since July 2010, but that is scheduled to end this year.  This bill would extend that suspension until June 30, 2017; the new Professional Standards Commission (PSC) rules shall be effective July 1, 2017.

It makes little sense to require teachers to return to the required professional learning unit mandate at the same time they are transitioning to the new tiered certification system.
