Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY: LC 39 1440 Would require public schools with grades 9-12 to offer an elective driver education and training course.

Would require that a student be 17 years old, and have completed an approved driver education training course in a licensed private driver training or public school and has a cumulative total of at least 40 hours of other supervised driving experience (at least six of those hours must be at night) before the Department of Motor Vehicle Service could issue a Class C driver's license. 

 

EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2018
