SUMMARY:

LC 41 1668

Would require local systems to test students in grades K-2 once a year for dyslexia, unless they have been previously screened. Local school systems shall be able to screen any student in grades 3 -12 for dyslexia if they exhibit signs of difficulty with phonological and phonemic awareness, sound symbol recognition, alphabet knowledge, decoding skills, rapid naming skills or encoding skills. 

 

EFFECTIVE DATE:

July 1, 2019, if passed.
