SUMMARY:

LC 36 4386S

"Georgia Broadband Opportunity Act".  Changes the way that Georgia's Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs) sets fees charged to telecommunication service providers for placing their equipment on EMC utility poles. Per this legislation, fees will be determined by the Georgia Public Service Commission. Georgia Public Service Commission must put into place no later than January 1, 2021 rules explaining how they will determine commercially reasonable and nondiscriminatory fees. 

EFFECTIVE DATE:

July 1, 2020, if passed.
