SUMMARY:

LC 41 2387

Would require the State Board of Education to adopt rules and regulations that would apply to all public elementary and secondary schools which would prevent children from accessing any written, digital, visual or audio materials that are deemed harmful. Purpose of this bill is to prevent students from receiving obscene material. Any person under 14 years of age that provides this material to students would be charged with up to one year probation and a fine up to $500. Any person over 14 would be subject to one year probation and a fine of up to $1,000. Would also require that local boards of education establish a parental review committee that would be tasked with approving any material placed in a school library.
