SUMMARY:  LC 49 0427

The bill would establish a new pilot program to determine the feasibility of implementing a state-funded charter school program for adults 21-35 who have not received a high school diploma and meet eligibility requirements set by the State Board of Education.

The State Board of Education in coordination with the State Charter Commission and the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia would provide opportunities for eligible adult learners to participate in a charter school program of academic and technical education and training and be awarded a high school diploma upon completion. The program would include up to three charter schools for five years.

Upon approval by the Governor
