The State Board is required to adopt content standards for financial literacy instruction to be completed in 11th or 12th grade.

Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, each local board shall require all students, as a condition of graduation, during their 11th or 12th grade year to complete at least a half-credit course in financial literacy.  It may be provided within an already existing course.  The course could also count toward a math, social studies, or elective credit requirement for graduation.

No later than January 1, 2023, the Professional Standards Commission shall establish appropriate requirements and procedures to be sure educators are appropriately licensed to teach financial literacy.  No later than December 30, 2023, the Professional Standards Commission must create a financial literacy endorsement for teachers.
