SUMMARY:

This bill would amend Code 20-2-316 to provide that no public high school could participate in or sponsor interscholastic competition administered by an athletic association unless the association meets travel distance requirements.  Specifically, when a high school is placed in a classification that requires travel beyond 200 miles to an opponent, the school could choose to compete in the next higher or lower classification that would result in travel to opponents at less than 200 miles.
