SUMMARY:

            This bill would amend Subpart 2 of Part 6 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A. to amend the salary increase for National Board Certified teachers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Teachers who leave a teaching position after March 1, 2009 will cease to receive any salary increase, subject to appropriations by the General Assembly.
  • It eliminates:
    • Paid leave to work on National Board Certification;
    • Payment by the state of a portion of the fee, subject to appropriations by the General Assembly.
  • .Teachers enrolled in the process or obtaining certification on or before March 1, 2005 and who renewed such certification after July 1, 2006 will have salary increases subject to appropriations by the General Assembly.
  • Teachers who received initial certification between July 1, 2006 and March 1, 2009 (with subsequent renewals anytime thereafter) will cease to receive the salary increases if they leave a position after March 1, 2009, subject to appropriations by the General Assembly.
  • Only those teachers receiving national certification or enrolled in the process on or before March 1, 2009 will be eligible for salary increases in the future, subject to appropriations of the General Assembly.
