Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  This bill would amend Title 28 to provide that, in the event of budgetary constraints, the Legislative Services Committee could reduce the salaries of members and officers of the General Assembly.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Percentage not to exceed 1 day’s pay per month for a maximum of 6 months
  • Requires 2/3 vote of committee with at least 1 week’s prior notice of meeting open to the public
  • Effective upon Governor’s signature

 

NOTE:

  • This bill is of interest to education only in light of recent furloughs of educators.
