Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This bill would amend Code Section 20-2-690.1 of the O.C.G.A. to lower the mandatory attendance age to five, thereby requiring all children to attend kindergarten if they turn five before September 1. There is no proposed change to the sixteenth birthday as the last mandatory attendance age.
