Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This bill would amend the O.C.G.A. to clean up errors, omissions, and outdated provisions. The section pertaining to K-12 education has some confusing provisions. There are several Codes that have been repealed in previous sessions of the General Assembly that would be designated as reserved. Code 20-2-320 would modernize terminology relating to state budget offices and education committees in the House and Senate. There is reference to changing a definition of charter schools in the bill, but the change appears to be elimination of “Charter Advisory Committee” references by replacing one Code with another one that matches current practice. The remainder of the changes relate to modernization of terminology.
