AS AMENDED IN HOUSE:
AS AMENDED AND PASSED SENATE:
This
bill would amend Part 2 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A.
by adding a new section to require a course
that Georgia’s content standards and assessments take into consideration include
standards in America’s founding philosophy and founding principles with
certain required content and a passing score
for graduation. State tests would also
have to include certain content. The
required course would be one semester long and The required
standards would include a long list of content requirements, most if not
all which appear in current American History and Government courses already a
part of the state curriculum and currently required for graduation. The bill would
require a biennial report to the House and Senate committees on education. LBOE’s
would also could choose to be responsible for instruction in the
required content standards, and teacher training would have to could include them, as
well. |
